<font color="#000000" size="1" face="Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif">A
change in musical direction for Rory Simpson led him back to his roots with old
school friends Matt MacKenzie and Ali Bruce. Their school band, under various
random names including The Undecided and Chandler (after the amazing Werdna’s
obsession with the American sit com Friends), jammed together a few times and
recorded some tracks at the local radio station Nevis Radio. At that point their
only claim to fame, besides a friend DJ giving them airplay, was pissing off small
time celebrity singer song writer Ian White who was being interviewed live on
air next door. </font><font color="#FFFFFF">
<p><font color="#000000" size="1" face="Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif">Rory
was at a lose end during the summer of 2005 and between recording his own material
heard some of Matt’s ideas. The two had kept in contact after leaving
their hometown of Fort William for University 5 years ago – Rory to Glasgow
and Matt to Dundee, and despite the distance between them, decided to give it
a go and made dates for some recording sessions.</font></p>
<p><font color="#000000" size="1" face="Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif">The
results from the 1st session were very encouraging with Rory’s “home
studio” providing some good recordings of some of Matt’s ideas as
well as providing their first spontaneously written masterpiece “Taken
me back”– which went on to be the opening track on their demo. After
much discussion over a band name with friends and girlfriends the name Dorian
came up from the cult classic Oscar Wilde novel ‘A picture of Dorian Gray’.
