The first of two brand new tracks can be found on the myspace page - "see in the dark". Thou shall not be disappointed! Over the next wee while we will be working on this track as well as few more new ones to add into the live set as well as mixing another brand new track "heads down thumbs up"! Which will hopefully be available soon! We will also be looking to record another video as well as playing yet more shows! The first of which is at Subclub in Glasgow on the 24th of September! Come along! Tis FREE!! 2nd June 08 Hello! Cheers to everyone that came along to our very first Dundee gig! We had an amazing night @ the westie and got an ace response from you so cheers! We will be hoping to play there again as soon as possible - we shall let you know when! 1st April 08 Hello! We have some news for the month of April! Firstly, on the gig front, we are returning to Box in Glasgow on the 15th April for another free gig which is always good to play to new people! Also, we have a gig scheduled for the 24th April at Pivo Pivo - a new music venue in Glasgow. Doors for both shows open at 8pm. For pivo pivo it costs £4 at the door! Secondly, we have been chosen as the first track on the new Breakout Scotland unsigned compilation Cd - showcasing some of the best unsigned artists from Scotland today! It is available on such online stores as itunes, and can also be purchased in hard format via www.breakoutscotland.co.uk or www.myspace.com/breakoutscotlandrecords.
14th February 08 The acoustic session is now going ahead on the 14th February (due to bad weather preventing us from getting up to Fort William) and finally Nevis Radio have fixed their website! www.nevisradio.co.uk. Should be fun! Expect some top quality banter as well as some acoustic tracks (old and new) as well as some of the artists that have influenced us up till now. 31st January 08 A quick update!! we have started the new year in style with some great gigs coming up as well as an acoustic session on our hometown station of Nevis Radio going out to the Lochaber massive. The show will be on Friday 1st February 9-11pm and can be listened to on 96.6fm (if in the area) or online at http://stream01.keyone.co.uk/nevis. Expect some top quality banter as well as some acoustic tracks (old and new) as well as some of the artists that have influenced us up till now. We've also got some great gigs coming up over the next few months. February 7th sees us playing brick in glasgow as part of an unsigned showcase night, we will be playing with the fire and i and zeta's empire - two amazing upcoming bands! We have also landed our first shot at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut on the 3rd of March supporting Dead Meadow all the way from LA, should be an amazing night! For more details on them visit the gigs section! 13th December 07 Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts in a while! Secondly we have scheduled a free gig at Box in Glasgow for the 17th December (monday) and it will be our last gig of the year.. and what a year it has been! Since starting to play live in late June, we have been invited to play at some amazing venues such as abc2 and Oran Mor for clyde 1 radio. Not bad considering we have only played 7 gigs! Also, we have just recently had our myspace page redesigned and are also in talk with some managers to help us out a bit in the new year. So it is all happening! We have had some amazing feedback at our shows and many thanks go out to everyone that came to see us and support us! So, come along to Box if you want to catch us before the Christmas break - it's a great wee venue that's free entry so there are no excuses... Otherwise, we shall see you in the new year - hopefully with a manager and an array of gigs scheduled for throughout the year (hopefully many shall be in dundee as well for the dundee folk!). We are also looking forward to upgrading our live setup to get some synths in as well as Chris's electronic kit to put on an even better performance! We are all really excited! See you soon! Dorian. 18th June 07 G'day! Firstly, just wanted to say that we have been chosen as a featured band for Xfm Uploaded where they will play us live on air - we are up against two other bands so you have to vote!! which you can do right here - just click on the big vote button thats on the page! Also a big thanks to everyone that came to see us at box, it was ace to see you again! Our next gig is upstairs in the Barfly next Tuesday (26th) and starts at 8pm - tickets are £5 available from band members, if you are after one simply send an email to mail@dorian-music.co.uk We are headlining it so it should be an ace night - and we have some new material to showcase which we think you will love! Looking forward to seeing you all again! 28th May 07 Hello everyone! Things are starting to happen! We have succesfully mastered our live set and are now getting into gigging as well as working on some new material! After some good feedback about performance and tracks we have scheduled two gigs so far for June 14th and Box in Sauchiehall St (Glasgow) and June 26th at the Barfly (upstairs and also in Glasgow). I believe for this date we will be headlining. For more info check out the Gigs page! We are also in the process of getting some cd's printed which we expect to be selling at gigs etc for a very affordable price! The Cd will have the tracks - The People Line, Toy Guitar, Can't turn Around as well as a bonus video for Taken Me Back. In addition to this we have also been offered an acoustic set back at our local radio station in Fort William - Nevis Radio - thanks to Eileen and the Rock Show! We will keep you posted on that! Anyway, hope to see you at the gigs, we are really looking forward to them because they are sounding fantastic in practice!! 24th April 07 So we had our first gig on the 18th and I must say we were all very impressed with ourselves! We were slightly nervous about how the sound would convert from recordings to a live environment but it worked amazingly! and got a really good response! Speaking of response, we would also like to thank everyone that came to see us, it really helped ease the nerves for our first gig! And an extra big thanks to all the guys who came through from Dundee! So yeah, we enjoyed it, people enjoyed it, now all we are thinking about is booking the next gig, and we cant wait for it! Looking forward to seeing you all again, and will definitely be minus the nerves this time! Cheers, Dorian! 27th March 07 So, practicing is going really well and we are only a few more sessions away from our first live performance! We are all loving how the tracks are sounding with new drummer Chris and are all really looking forward to playing them live! We are currently looking into that so hopefully we should have a date within the next 3 or 4 weeks... we shall keep you posted! In the meantime, check out our new track - People Line which is number 1 on our brand new demo! We have also decided to put the video for Taken me Back onto our new demo as a bonus video.. the demo should retail from all major band members for the generous price of £2.50 - this is just so we can have the demo pay for itself - its hard financially being in a band! 10th January 07 Again, its been a long time since the last post so we are sorry but we have been busy finding a brand new 'kin ace drummer called chris! He saw one of the ads we put up and liked our stuff (which is a good start) and the rest is history. We are having our first practice as a whole band tonight and are really looking forward to it! He really is a drum god and will definitely bring some good ideas to the band. So a few practices later we should be set for putting on a few shows so watch this space. So yes, this post is basically an official welcoming of chris into Dorian!... a new era so to speak.. we are all very excited! 10th October 06 It's been a while hasn't it.. well it doesn't mean things haven't been happening! Firstly though, a wee shout out... we are currently looking out for a drummer so we can start playing live as soon as possible, so if you are up for it please drop us an email! Secondly, we have just finished recording 2 videos for the tracks - U Live and Learn and Taken Me Back. The video for Taken me Back is currently in the Audio/Video section of the website so please check it out! U Live and Learn will perhaps feature as a special multimedia add on to the next batch of demos we get printed.. hopefully sooner rather than later. So aye, check the video out and let us know if you play drums!! 28th April 06 Hello! A quick update on Dorian as it's been a while since our last post. We have been working on our live sound for the last wee while and our last few practices have been sounding fantastic so we think we could be on to something with our live shows! I think it makes a lot of difference to bands when they include all the little details that you cant replicate on stage yourself... thank you Mr Laptop! So aye, we will be looking to play some venues very very soon! Also, we have spent some time over the last few weeks mixing down 2 more tracks - Lethargy and You Live and Learn. Mainly because they sounded ace, but also as we will probably be playing them at some gigs in the future. You can find them on our myspace page, so go check them out and let us know what you think. Until next time, fare thee well. 7th March 06 G'day to all your faces! Things have been going well so far, if you tuned into Nevis Radio's Rock Show on Friday 24th of Feb you would have heard an interview with Matt along with another showcase of the demo. A big thanks to Eileen Ross for her support and kind words! Also, we have been getting some airplay on XFm recently on Jim Gellatly's X-Posure, so also big thanks to his face. But wait, theres more! Finally a big thank you to King Tuts for showcasing 3 tracks from the demo in their Your Sound event last Sunday. It was a good night and we got to "hover" around some very friendly industry types before lauching our demos at them. We are still continuing to work on our live sound to get it just right before we start gigging, but hopefully we shall be playing very soon! 9th January 06 Happy new year to your faces! We have completed our demo and had it printed etc so now it is available for anyone who wants! If you want a copy sent, drop us a line on mail@dorian-music.co.uk Also, if you happened to tune into the Rock Show last Friday on Nevis Radio (Lochaber's local station) you would have heard a Dorian 1 hour special where Eileen Ross played the whole demo from front to back.. If you missed it, you can tune in from 8pm next Friday on 96.6 FM or online at www.nevisradio.co.uk as Eileen said she would play it again, Cheers Eileen! 16th November 05 So we’ve been putting a few of our songs out in the public eye finally and getting some nice responses. Jamie Murphy from HUBL (Highland Ultimate Band List) gave us a wee review for “Toy Guitar” which is available for download from www.hubl.co.uk Review:
Comparisons with Idlewild can only be a good thing!! A huge thank you to all you lovely people who have downloaded us, thanks to your support we are still the top downloaded band! You can still check us out at www.myspace.com/dorianuk. We will hopefully be ready to start gigging in the very near future so watch this space… 28th September 05 The demo is looking pretty much finished and so we are starting to put it out there for a bit of publicity.. You can find it on the the purevolume and myspace websites for now so go check them out! Seeing as its pretty much complete, we are now going to spend the next wee while getting our live sound sorted out which means lots of practice sessions and equipment sorting - which I'm sure will be stressful but its got to be done.. We are really looking forward to playing are songs live so I'm sure that will compell us to get them sorted quickly, and as we've already had some gig invitations, we will definitely need to get cracking! 23rd August 05 If you are reading this, you are either a close friend of ours or you have completely randomly found your way to this site. In which case I should direct you to the Dorian part above to find out who we are and what we do etc etc.. but aye, for the others, I can tell you that over the last few months we have been recording/mixing/tweaking material for our first demo. Some are old ideas, some are new, but I think we are very happy with the 13 song outcome. The last few days have been spent trying to decide on a track listing for the demo (seeing as demos are normally fairly limited with the number of songs you should use). It's a bit annoying that we cant put everything on there that we'd like to, but I suppose at 6 songs - its still a fairly huge beast of a demo! Although i suppose if we're struggling to decide what should go on it then thats probably a good thing - means we have some good songs we like! Anyway, we have finished the audio part of the website so finally we can let you hear what SHOULD be our demo. Hope you like it. 12th August 05 Recording demo! |
